Welcome back, I believe this is Season 13 for the pool! Take a needed break each week and enjoy some NFL football for a few hours on Sunday. So many storylines to make this an interesting NFL season – Can Brady defeat Father Time once more in Tampa, Rodgers returns for his last stand in Green Bay, young QBs will start – Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, & Trevor Lawrence, can Seahawks emerge in a stacked NFC West? For any newcomers, the rules are simple!
$50 entry fee with all of it going back to the prize pool – less than $3 for each week of the season. Each week you will pick a winner for each of the games on the schedule. I’m offloading the bulk of the work to an external website so you’ll make your weekly picks at PoolHost. Plus side is no more late pick sheets managed by myself, view your own and others’ picks during Sunday’s games, and some added features like ‘rolling deadline’ which will be explained.
The weekly pick sheet & past week’s results should be available every Tuesday. Picks can be submitted anytime from Tuesday right up to kickoff on Sunday. The picksheet will close electronically at kickoff (1PM EST on Sundays) so don’t be late. With PoolHost managing the pool, we can now have a rolling deadline. This means we will have a custom deadline of Sunday at 1PM EST regardless of there being a game earlier in the week. Sunday at 1PM EST will be the master deadline by which ALL picks must be in. Users must make picks for games that are earlier than the master deadline (i.e weekly Thursday game) but before their scheduled kick-offs. Once a game kicks off, it is locked and can no longer be picked and you will receive a zero for that game.
Picksheets not submitted by Sunday 1PM EST cutoff will be given a ZERO for the week.
We are picking vs the Vegas spread – NOT straight up winners/losers.
Each week’s winner will score the weekly prize which will be determined by the total number of participants. Also, your weekly score will be added to your cumulative 17 week score for the BIG year end prizes. Usually top 3 will cash, but prizes to be determined once number of participants is finalized – check back for updates.
Join in … everyone is welcome. Trash talking your co-workers and winning their money can only add to your enjoyment each Sunday! Games begin on Sept. 9th (Cowboys vs. Buccaneers) so let me know soon if you’d like to join in.
This is now Season 7 of the Sonepar NFL Survivor pool. Per usual, we’ll be running the pool on PoolHost. Here’s how it works. Last year’s Survivor champ, Travis M, took home a cool $510 for his efforts!
- $30 entry fee. Maximum of 2 entries per player.
- Pick 1 team to win each week from the slate of NFL games. If you win, you “survive” and pick next week. If you lose, you’re out. Point spreads are not taken into consideration – just pick a winner!
- You can only use a team once during the life of the pool (i.e. If you choose the Patriots in Week 1 you cannot use them again for the rest of the season).
- If the game you picked should end in a tie that counts as a loss and you are out.
- Your picks must be in by Sunday by 1PM EST. Picks for all players for the week will be displayed on the webpage after the Sunday games start.
- If there is a Thursday night or Saturday game and you want to use a team playing in that game your pick must be submitted before kick-off otherwise that game will lock out and you will need to pick a team from the remainder of the games that week prior to game start time or the Sunday 1PM EST deadline.
- If you forget to submit a team or miss the week’s deadline, you’re out.
- The website is designed to not allow you to pick the same team 2 times over the course of a season. However, it is ultimately your responsibility to track this and if the same team is picked 2 times, it will count as a loss and you’re out.
- If there is a tie at the end of the season or the last remaining players lose on the same week then the pot will be split between them.
Games begin on Thursday, Sept. 9th (Cowboys vs. Buccaneers) so let me know soon if you’d like to join in. Enjoy the NFL season, good luck!
Ok, the people have spoken and we’re kicking off our 1st March Madness pool this year! This is your chance to pick college hoops winners and come away victorious following the Final Game, which goes April 4 at NRG Stadium in Houston.
Make your picks for all tournament games starting Thursday, March 17. You accumulate points for each correct prediction so, once your bracket is filled out, step back and watch your picks in action. Keep your fingers crossed for the upsets you’ve picked and hope that you don’t get your bracket busted by others.
We are using a round-based weighted scoring system. Correct picks earn 1 point in Round 1, 2 points in Round 2, etc. … and 10 points in the Championship Round 6. This gives the people that pick the winner of the tournament correctly an advantage, but does not completely eliminate the people that didn’t correctly guess the eventual champion.
$20 per entry – all money goes back into the prize pool. Prize breakdown to be determined once we have a final entry count. Good luck and enjoy the Madness!
Download a bracket entry form by clicking on the link below, and e-mail your completed bracket back to Enoch. Games start on Thursday, so forms are due back by Wednesday evening.

Ok, another exciting season has come to an end and our pool winners have been decided. Congratulations to Steve D who finished 1st with an impressive 53.41% pick rate and earned himself a $412 payday. Also, Chris W, Mostafa B, and Shane O finished 2nd through 4th respectively. Check out the final standings and payouts below.
1st off, my apologies for such a poorly run pool where results haven’t been posted. On the other hand, I have 7 participants who still haven’t paid their $20 entry fee. Until this happens, the winners will not be paid and those 7 people will be outted as non-payees and will have to answer to those owed winnings.
Congratulations to Derek M ($270), Kristopher M ($162), and Ray B ($108) for cashing prize money. Standard 50%, 30%, 20% split for top 3 places. To see the winning brackets, click here: FIFA Top 3.
Who knew we had soccer … errr, I mean football fans at the office! With the 2014 World Cup hosted by Brazil starting in just a few days, we are organizing our 1st ever World Cup office pool.
$20 entry fee – everyone is welcome to join. Easy to do … just fill in the bracket and sit back and enjoy the matches. In the Group Stage, 8 Groups (A thru H) – rank who you think will finish top 2 in each group and advance to the Knockout Stage. Pick your bracket all the way through to the Finals. Point totals are assigned for game outcomes throughout the tournament and point breakdowns are shown at the bottom of the bracket.
If still unclear, take a look at the sample bracket shown below.
Notice how there is Group A shown on both sides of the bracket. 2 teams will move on from each Group. In the sample bracket below, I have Brazil finishing 1st in Group A, hence I have picked Brazil as 1A. I have Mexico finishing 2nd in Group A so they are shown as 2A. Make your picks for all 8 Groups and then move onto the Round of 16 and so on until you have picked your champion!
Good luck everyone! GOOOOAAAALLLL!!!! Click on the link to grab the bracket, fill it out in Excel, and send it back to me via e-mail. Games kickoff on June 12th – deadline to submit your bracket is Wednesday, June 11th. 2014-World-Cup-Sonepar-Pool-Bracket
Congratulations to our regular season winners – Jayson D, Mother Canuckers, and Sandy M. Looks like Winnipeg knows their hockey.
Onto the playoffs now. Standings will be updated daily and can be seen by clicking on the NHL tab at the top. 19 entries for a prize pool of $380. In case, I actually pick a winning team for once, my entry has been audited by the law firm of Raymond Brown.
Should be a great game with Peyton Manning and the Broncos’ top ranked offense vs Richard Sherman and the Seahawks’ top ranked defense. Vegas opened the Broncos as 1 point favorites but the line has moved into the 2.5 point range. O/U is at 47 points.
Enough interest this year to fill 2 pools. Good luck to everyone! Hope your numbers hit. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd quarter score – 20%. Final score – 40%. Thanks to Tricia C. for organizing.
Congrats to all those that took home the money! Peron was a frontrunner and led the whole year – didn’t win much weekly money but was amazingly consistent and easily took 1st place by picking at an outstanding 60% success rate. I guess Kirk has passed on his magical spreadsheets to Peron. Some drama in Week 17 as Elizabeth passed Keith for 2nd place, and Jessica stormed past Chris into 4th place.

Hope the pool made your NFL watching more enjoyable this year. Enjoy the playoffs! Go Seahawks go!!
Welcome back! So many storylines to make this an interesting NFL season – RG3 comeback, post Ray Lewis era in Baltimore, and the Seahawks continue their rise.
The pool has been running since 2004 so hopefully you know the drill by now. For any newcomers, the rules are simple!
$50 entry fee with all of it going back to the prize pool – less than $3 for each week of the season. Each week you will pick a winner for each of the games on the schedule. All picks will be submitted via the Pool HQ website so it can be done from anywhere – work or home. If you’re quick it can be completed each week in about 2 minutes so no excuses about “not having the time”.
The weekly pick sheet & past week’s results should be available every Tuesday. Picks can be submitted anytime from Tuesday right up to kickoff on Sunday. The picksheet will close electronically at kickoff (~ 1:00 PM EST on Sundays) so don’t be late – no excuses! Picksheets not submitted by cutoff will be given the LOW SCORE of the week.
We are picking vs the Vegas spread – NOT straight up winners/losers.
i.e. Favorite Point Spread Underdog
GREEN BAY (Home team in CAPS) 5.5 Pittsburgh
If you choose the favorite (GREEN BAY), then they must beat the underdog (Pittsburgh) by 6 or more points to be considered the “winner”. If Pittsburgh should either win straight up, or lose by any amount less than 6 points, then Pittsburgh would be considered the “winner”. Got it??
Each week’s winner will score the weekly prize which will be determined by the total number of participants (Last year’s weekly prize was $40). Also, your weekly score will be added to your cumulative 17 week score for the BIG year end prizes. Top 4 finishers will split the cash.
Join in … everyone is welcome. Trash talking your co-workers and winning their money can only add to your enjoyment each Sunday!
